SELebrating Inclusion Summit

Through the annual SELebrating Inclusion Summit, Apni Shala and Ummeed Child Development Center continue their advocacy efforts to create partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organizations to ensure that all children are included and have access to social and emotional wellbeing.

The first three editions of the summit had over 1500 registrations and the participants included individuals working with organizations, schools, educational institutions, policy makers, families, caregivers,
educators, mental health professionals, students, and members of civil society. The first two SELebrating Inclusion Summit (SIS) were held online due to COVID restrictions. With the relaxation of restrictions after 2 years of school closures, the SELebrating Inclusion summit 2023 was hosted in a hybrid mode through Zoom and through offline gatherings in a school.

A Community of Practice has emerged from the first edition of the summit and have yielded rich discussions and have also informed the design of the third edition of the summit. Thematically SIS is structured on the core concepts of systems, stories and spaces of well-being. Systems theme includes panel discussions, keynote address, or sessions that focus on factors that nurture SEL and inclusion. The stories’ theme spotlights the work of organizations, communities, and individuals in the SEL and inclusion landscape in India and the world. Spaces of Wellbeing consists of workshops and experiential spaces that seek to nurture wellbeing, care, and inclusion for all participant in practice and highlight inclusive and SEL practices.
