Who can apply : Community Workers/Individuals from organizations that are community based and/or with a focus on developmental disabilities
CDA is a nine-month, part-time course for community workers that trains them on how to promote child development, identify delays and disabilities, and offer community-based intervention to young children and families in their community. The program seeks to create resources in communities that do not otherwise have access to professional and private healthcare systems.

Objectives:
A CDA-trained individual will be able to:
Promote early childhood development
Identify children with/at risk of developmental delays/disabilities
Provide simple and structured intervention to enhance participation of children with delays/ disabilities
Increase community awareness and advocate for children with developmental delays/ disabilities and their famiiies
The training covers a wide range of topics related to child development milestones such as gross motor, fine motor, communication, social and play development. Participants are also taught to administer the GMCD (Guide for Monitoring Child Development), an internationally recognized tool co-developed by Ummeed.
The training encompasses theory and practical fieldwork under supervision, with more emphasis on the later.
